How SEO works at heyDave

Most SEO happens in the dark. You pay, things change, and nobody can tell you what. We work the other way round. Every step is written down, approved by you before we start and reported on every month. We stick to practices Google recommends itself, so the work never depends on a trick. Here is the process, step by step.

We start by getting on the same page

Before we change anything, we need to know where you stand. We ask for access to your website, Google Search Console and your analytics tool. If you do not have the last two, that is fine, we help you set them up.

Then we take a baseline: your rankings, clicks, impressions and traffic today. Every result we report later gets measured against it.

Next we look at what your site already does well, where it leaves visitors and search engines guessing, and which quick wins we can start with. We study your competitors too, what they rank for and where their strategy has holes. Keyword research comes last, so the phrases we pick are the ones your customers really use, including the questions they ask AI tools.

FAQ

SEO questions, answered

What is Search Engine Optimization?

SEO, or search engine optimization, means improving your site so it appears higher in Google’s unpaid results. It covers the technical side, the content and the trust Google places in your site.

Why do I need SEO?

Your customers already search for “coiffeur Nyon” or “dentiste Nyon” before they call. A search like “coiffeur nyon” runs at roughly 1,900 searches a month in Switzerland (an estimate). A good organic position keeps working when you stop paying.

Does your website need to be mobile friendly?

Yes. Google looks at the mobile version of your site first, and many local searches happen on a phone. A site that is hard to read on mobile loses visitors and rankings.

Longtail keywords vs. Short tail keywords

Short keywords, like “lawyer”, face a lot of competition. More specific phrases, like “tenancy law lawyer Nyon”, bring fewer people but more decided customers. We mix both, starting with what is closest to a sale.

How often should you update your website?

There is no magic rhythm. Update whenever something changes (opening hours, prices, services) and add a page when you have a real answer to a customer question.

Is website speed important?

Yes. A slow site drives visitors away and can weigh on rankings. We measure speed with Google’s tools and fix the common causes: heavy images, unnecessary scripts, slow hosting.

Is there a difference between SEO and Local SEO?

SEO aims to get you found for a topic, anywhere. Local SEO aims to get you found near you: a Google Business Profile, reviews, an address and pages by service or by town.

Do you need Local SEO in Nyon?

Yes if your customers come from Nyon and La Côte: a practice, salon, garage, agency or tradesperson. A well kept Google profile, real reviews and pages that mention Nyon and your services answer those searches.

SEO vs SEM

SEM covers paid advertising (Google Ads) and SEO together. Ads bring visits straight away and stop when the budget stops. SEO takes months but keeps working. Many businesses use both.

On Page SEO

Everything you change on your own site: titles, text, links between pages, images, speed and structured data.

Off Page SEO

What happens outside your site: links from other sites, mentions, reviews and your Google profile. We earn links by hand and never buy them.

Where can I learn more about Local SEO?

Google’s official Search Central guides (developers.google.com/search) and the Google Business Profile help (support.google.com/business) are good sources. You can also write to us with your question.
